NTEP Certified (legal for trade) designed to retrofit fertilizer blenders & weigh-hoppers manufactured by Adams, A.J. Sackett, Burton, Doyle, Kraus, Layco, R & R, Ranco, Speed King, Tyler, Waconia, Yargus and most containers up to 12 tons of material.

Scale Designs developed the 1st NTEP certified all stainless steel, fully electronic fertilizer scale on planet earth. Others tried and failed. To the best of our knowledge no one has a comparable solution that approaches our proven long term reliability. We use precise measurements for container connections and the frame is all welded. Adjustable sounded good until it was out of adjustment. We also use upper & lower crosspieces (stabilizer bars) on at least three sides to insure corner stability for the life of the scale.

Tennessee Farmers Coop has been buying our scales for its 52 member coops and associate members in neighboring states that own TFC along with the roughly 70,000 farmers who are member-owners of the local Co-ops in their home counties since 2005 and now Greenpoint Ag can buy through TFC. Our customers range from Nutrien, across the country, to a local farmer in Oregon to MFA, Agland, Southern States, Goldstar FS and other FS groups, Co-Alliance, Producers Exchange Sur-Gro,Pinnacle, Jimmy Sanders, and ADM to mention a few. The top plates are precision cut to match the plates on your weigh-hopper, blender, tank.

We use measurement forms depicting the typical sizes shapes and hole patterns. Most connecting plates are rectangular measuring from six inches to ten inches vertically and horizontally. There are usually four holes in each plate and stainless-steel bolts are used to secure the plates. However, many Doyle hoppers particularly five-ton Doyle's use two connecting holes. We have measurement forms for most hole patterns and yet we still find unexpected hole patterns occasionally.

Our scale ships with everything you need to begin weighing except the indicator which can be added if you don't have one.

The stainless steel frame is shipped pre-wired with all components installed and custom fitted to match the fittings on your vertical blender or weigh-hopper.

Important note: Every component, particularly the frame, was subjected to rigorous and expensive testing procedures before the scales were NTEP certified. At the time, we were not thrilled about it, but we had the first NTEP certified fully electronic Stainless Steel scale (legal for trade) with fertilizer blenders/tanks/weigh hoppers. We are using some design elements (trade secrets) that are unique to our scale. References from major fertilizer vendors and independents are available on request. Our customers are our best salespeople.

One of our first installations

When Adams Fertilizer in Senath, MO received their new fertilizer scale, a key employee used a front end loader and installed the new scale ... by himself... in about 3 hours. He said he may have finished sooner but he took time out for a snack. Their scale company calibrated and put it into service. While we can’t recommend this approach, don’t you admire the attitude and ingenuity of the employee?

Kraus with no connecting plates

This Kraus hopper with a side blender had no connecting plates. The old mild-steel mechanical scale included mild-steel legs that were bolted inside cups on the hopper. The hopper was made with stainless steel and had years of life left. With the Scale Designs retrofit, which includes a stainless steel scale with stainless steel legs, the whole system has years of life left.

A new scale was delivered to Mathis Farm Supply in Melber, KY on a Saturday at 9:00 AM. By 11:30 AM, the scale technician had finished, installing, calibrating and was on his way. By customer request, the scale was calibrated with weights above capacity.

The stainless steel frame is shipped pre-wired with all components installed and custom fitted to match the fittings on your vertical blender or weigh-hopper. Typical installation takes 2- 4 hours. NTEP certified for up to 12 tons of material.
Length, width, height, size of plates, hole pattern on plates on most blenders/hoppers or legs for Kraus are adjusted to match your blender or hopper.

Certificate Number 06-021

This is the NTEP Certificate required for the scale. The scale must have its own certificate coupled with NTEP Certified load cells and an NTEP Certified indicator. All three certificates must be available for legal trade in all NTEP states.
